Workspace Settings

Overview

Workspace settings control how your Kowiki workspace appears and operates for all team members. These settings affect the entire workspace, not individual accounts.

Only users with the Owner or Admin role can view and modify workspace settings. For details on what each role can do, see Roles Explained.

Accessing workspace settings

1. Click the gear icon in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar.
2. Select Workspace Settings from the menu.

Workspace name

The workspace name is the display name shown in the sidebar, browser tab, and team invitations.

To change your workspace name:

1. Navigate to Workspace Settings.
2. Find the Workspace Name field.
3. Enter your new workspace name.
4. Click Save Changes.

The name change takes effect immediately for all team members.

Workspace slug

The workspace slug is the URL identifier for your workspace. It determines your workspace address: yourslug.kowiki.co.

To change your workspace slug:

1. Navigate to Workspace Settings.
2. Find the Workspace Slug field.
3. Enter your desired slug. Slugs can contain lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens.
4. Click Save Changes.

Important: Changing your slug updates the URL for your entire workspace. Previous URLs will no longer work. Share the new URL with your team after making changes.

Workspace logo

The workspace logo appears in the sidebar, workspace switcher, and public-facing pages.

To update your workspace logo:

1. Navigate to Workspace Settings.
2. Click the current logo or the Upload Logo button.
3. Select an image file (PNG, JPG, or SVG; recommended size: 256×256px).
4. Crop or adjust the image if prompted.
5. Click Save Changes.

To remove the logo and revert to the default icon, click Remove Logo.

Default section visibility

Control whether new sections are visible to all workspace members or restricted by default.

To configure default visibility:

1. Navigate to Workspace Settings.
2. Find the Default Visibility option.
3. Choose between:
   • All Members — new sections are visible to everyone in the workspace.
   • Admins Only — new sections are restricted to Owners and Admins until explicitly shared.
4. Click Save Changes.

This setting applies to newly created sections. Existing sections retain their current visibility settings.

Timezone

The workspace timezone affects how dates and timestamps display across Kowiki, including sync schedules and activity logs.

To set the workspace timezone:

1. Navigate to Workspace Settings.
2. Find the Timezone dropdown.
3. Select your preferred timezone from the list.
4. Click Save Changes.

All team members see timestamps based on this workspace timezone setting.
