Platform Apps Overview

What are Platform Apps?

Platform Apps are the delivery channels that bring your Kowiki wiki content to where your team already works. Instead of requiring everyone to visit a separate tool, Kowiki meets people in Slack, Microsoft Teams, or a hosted web portal — whichever fits their workflow.

Each app connects to the same underlying wiki. Content you create or edit appears across all installed apps automatically. You can install one app or all three depending on how your team communicates.

Available Apps

Kowiki offers three platform apps:

Slack — Access your wiki directly inside Slack with slash commands, browsing, page sharing, and the AI Knowledge Agent via DM or @mention.
Microsoft Teams — Browse and share wiki content as a tab in your channels, and chat with the AI Knowledge Agent in Teams.
Web Wiki — A hosted web portal at yourworkspace.kowiki.co where anyone can browse, search, and read your wiki content.

All three apps include access to the AI Knowledge Agent, which answers questions using your wiki content as its knowledge base.

Synced Users vs. Viewers

Kowiki distinguishes between two types of users based on how they access your content:

Synced users are people who access your wiki through Slack or Microsoft Teams. Synced users are always unlimited — there is no seat cap regardless of your plan.
Viewers are people who access content through the Web Wiki. Viewer seats are limited based on your billing plan.

This means you can roll out wiki access to your entire Slack workspace or Teams organization without worrying about per-seat costs. For more details on how roles work, see Roles Explained.

When to Use Which App

Use Slack when your team:

Lives in Slack throughout the workday
Wants quick answers without leaving a conversation
Prefers slash commands and inline sharing
Needs the AI agent to answer questions in channel threads

Use Microsoft Teams when your team:

Uses Teams as their primary communication platform
Wants wiki content pinned as tabs in project channels
Prefers message cards and adaptive card formats
Needs the AI agent accessible in Teams chat

Use Web Wiki when you need:

A full browsing experience with navigation and search
Public-facing documentation or knowledge bases
A standalone portal for stakeholders outside Slack or Teams
A custom-branded domain for your documentation

How Apps Work Together

You can install multiple apps simultaneously. They all connect to the same wiki content, so there is no duplication or sync delay. A page published in your wiki appears in Slack search results, the Teams tab, and the Web Wiki at the same time.

Each app is installed and configured independently. Adding or removing one app does not affect the others. This gives you flexibility to start with one platform and expand as your team's needs grow.
